THE FRY STREET QUARTET

Founded in 1997, the Fry Street Quartet won first prize at the Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition, captured Grand Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and placed Third in the distinguished Banff Competition in 2004. Hailed as “a triumph of ensemble playing” (New York Times), the Fry Street Quartet has perfected a “blend of technical precision and scorching spontaneity” (Strad).

STUART MALINA, Piano, recently completed his eighth season as Music Director of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. Known for his innovative programming, engaging stage manner, and commanding artistry, his equally impressive credits as a pianist include participation in the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition.





ILANA DAVIDSON, Soprano, has won four Grammy Awards for her recording of William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and of Experience. She recently made her Tully Hall debut as the Wife in the Philip Glass/Robert Moran opera, The Juniper Tree.

DINING / PICNICS

Dine with the Artists on Friday, July 25 at 7pm at the home of Martin and Lucy Murray. $125 per guest ($75 deductible). Directions will be sent. For more information call 717-221-9599.

Weather permitting, picnic on the Yellow Breeches from 6pm before Saturday’s performance and until 8pm following Sunday’s performance. Please bring your own food, beverages, and picnic blankets. Comfortable dress recommended.


DIRECTIONS

Market Square Church is located at Second and Chestnut Streets in Harrisburg. Parking is available in the Market Square Garage adjacent to the church.

The Glen Allen Mill is on McCormick Road between Bowmansdale and Lisburn. From Route 15, take the Rossmoyne Road exit. Turn left at exit stop sign. Continue on Rossmoyne Road to Lisburn Road. Turn right onto Lisburn Road. A few hundred yards later, bear right at the fork onto Arcona Road. Follow Arcona Road until it dead ends at McCormick Road. Turn left onto McCormick Road. Mill is ¼ mile ahead on the right. Watch for parking directions. Parking will be in the meadow across the creek from the Mill. Please call 221-9599 for special handicapped assistance.
