Piano Masterclass - Tuesday, March 20, 2018, 4-6 PM
Having performed recitals and concerti on stages all over the world, Mark Markham will work with selected pianists on focusing their musical intentions through style, technical clarity and fidelity to the score, which enables better communication to the public, as well as the freedom to embrace the spontaneity of live performance.
Just like his mentor, the great American pianist Ann Schein, Mark Markham combines his active performing career with nurturing talented students, focusing on helping them communicate freely on stage. Equally at home as a soloist, a collaborator with some of the finest singers in the world, a jazz pianist, or a vocal coach, Mr. Markham is an insightful and effective teacher. A former faculty member of the Peabody Conservatory, Morgan State University, the Britten-Pears School in England, the Georg Solti Accademia and the Norfolk Chamber Festival of Yale University, he has presented masterclasses for pianists and singers throughout the US, Europe, and Asia and has been a guest lecturer for the Metropolitan Opera Guild and Johns Hopkins University.
